About this event

At Jingu-in, a temple founded by Saicho (Dengyo Daishi), the founder of the Tendai sect, the Saitou Ogoma-ku (Outdoor Fire Ritual) is held annually on the first Sunday of March. During this period, visitors can also enjoy beautiful plum blossoms. The Saitou Ogoma-ku is an ancient esoteric fire ritual and an important event to pray for good health and family safety. The scene of lighting the towering flames and offering prayers within them is solemn and attracts many worshippers.
