About this event
Grass skiing, which has long been loved in Kiyama Town, will be held as the "2026 Kusamori Kii World Championship." This tournament is a unique event where participants slide down natural grass on the slopes of Mount Kizan using dedicated wooden sleds and compete for time. It is easy to participate for those who are experienced with grass skiing as well as first-timers. In the individual competitions, times are contested by age group across the Small Sakimori Class (preschool children), Medium Sakimori Class (elementary school students), and Large Sakimori Class (junior high school students and adults). Relay team competitions that can be entered with family and friends will also be held, featuring the Team Sakimori Class (total of 4 members: 2 or more elementary school students or younger, and 2 or fewer junior high school students or older) and the Expert Sakimori Class (4 members of junior high school age or older). Participation is free, but advance registration is required. On the day of the tournament, it will be held at Kiyama Park Grass Skiing Ground, and in case of rain, it will be postponed to the following week. Take this opportunity to experience grass skiing unique to Kiyama and spend a memorable day.
