📅 Wed, Nov 18, 2026 - Thu, Nov 19, 2026
About this event
This is a 2-day, 1-night tour to "see, hear, eat, and think" about the land of Goto. Participants will learn about the blessings of agricultural and livestock products brought by volcanoes, as well as the utilization of nuisance wildlife. Visiting production sites for Goto beef and agricultural produce, you will hear firsthand accounts about the significance and future of continuing agriculture on the island. You will also visit sites showcasing the history of using volcanic stone as a daily living material and the utilization of nuisance wildlife as gibier (wild game meat). In the evening, enjoy a barbecue bringing together "Yamanosachi" (bounty of the mountains) and "Uminosachi" (bounty of the sea). The next day, participants will discuss and think together about creating tourism systems that transform regional resources and local challenges into value. It is recommended for those involved in geoparks, tourism, and community development, or anyone wishing to deeply understand the land and food of Goto. Through this journey, you can gain perspectives on turning regional resources into stories, turning regional challenges into tourism value, the concept of tours that return value to the community, and deepen your network with participants from across the nation.
