UNZEN Civic Lecture: Let's Try Unzen Azuma Cross

This is a civic lecture where you can experience Azuma Cross, a unique sport created in Unzen City. Azuma Cross is a sport featuring unpredictable gameplay where four teams of two players compete simultaneously across crossed nets by hitting a badminton shuttlecock with soft tennis rackets. Because opponents are positioned not only in front but also to the left and right, players can enjoy a distinctive, thrilling game. Since the racket face is large and the shuttlecock flies slowly, even those not confident in sports can easily participate. In this course held bi-weekly over three sessions, even beginners can learn the techniques and rules without difficulty. For experienced players, matches aimed at further improving skills against members of the Azuma Cross Association are also available. Rackets are provided on free loan if you bring indoor gymnasium shoes and a towel.
