About this event
The Cosmos Festival held at Shimabara Hibariyama Flower Park, which commands a panoramic view of Heisei Shinzan—the highest peak of Mount Unzen—takes place at a park developed as a symbol of recovery from the Mount Unzen-Fugendake eruption disaster to express gratitude for nationwide support and to remain for future generations. Cosmos flowers usually reach their peak bloom from early October to mid-November, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacular view created by colorful flower fields within the park. In particular, the combination of Heisei Shinzan, 10 million cosmos flowers, and 60,000 sunflowers is a breathtaking sight. Handmade chairs, tables, and photo frame spots are prepared within the grounds for anyone to use freely. Wheelchair rentals are also available.
