Japanese name:第30回 くまもと玉名大俵まつり
📅 Mon, Nov 23, 2026
About this event
Held every autumn in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture, this major event gives thanks for the prosperity of Tamana City and bountiful harvests. This year's theme is "Tanoshimebayoka!!" (Just Have Fun!!). Exciting and powerful competitions will take place, including the "Straw Bag Rolling Race," where teams compete against the clock by rolling a giant straw bag weighing 1 ton, and the "Rice Straw Bag Loading Championship," where participants race while carrying a 60-kilogram straw bag. In addition, a "Gourmet Event" thanking for the harvest of all kinds of Tamana produce will be held, filling the venue with passion and vitality. Past tournaments have seen fierce battles, such as championship teams striving for consecutive victories in the straw bag rolling race. Food stall vendors are also being recruited to join in enlivening the festival.
