The "22nd Yamae Chestnut Festival" will take place in Yamae Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, spotlighting the GI-registered brand "Yamae Chestnuts" for a full day dedicated entirely to chestnuts. The venue offers abundant fun events such as sales of freshly harvested raw chestnuts, a chestnut grab game (100 yen per turn), a chestnut burr tossing game (free), and a chestnut weight guessing quiz (free). A market will also feature local Yamae Village specialties like chestnut manju (steamed buns) and chestnut curry. On the special stage, the opening ceremony will be followed by picture book storytelling and the "Yamae Chestnut Quiz Championship." In addition, the "Yamae Chestnut Sweets Festa" will be held at the Yamae Village Gymnasium, where confectioneries from various regions will sell sweets made with prized Yamae chestnuts. A raffle offering stamps for every 1,000 yen spent on chestnut products features prizes such as accommodation vouchers for Yamae Onsen Hotarubi-kan and chestnut confectionery sets. Visitors can also enjoy a ride in a vintage bonnet bus on the "Bonnet Bus Drive." It is an event to savor autumn in Yamae Village to the fullest.
