About this event
The special exhibition 'Conveyed Ancient Documents – The Mystery of the Toyotomi Hideyoshi Documents Remaining in Nakatsu' at the Nakatsu City Museum of History focuses on ancient documents of Toyotomi Hideyoshi handed down within Nakatsu City. In the city, there is a family that handed down letters and vermilion seal documents (shuinjo) addressed to 'Inada Seizo,' and another family that handed down letters addressed to 'Ikoma Chikamasa'; both sets are currently preserved at the museum. In particular, the letters and vermilion seal documents addressed to Inada Seizo are newly discovered historical materials and are being exhibited to the public for the first time. This exhibition explores the mystery of why Toyotomi Hideyoshi's documents were transmitted to the land of Nakatsu. Based on historical materials, it presents a valuable opportunity to uncover the connection between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Nakatsu by examining the addressees, contents, related materials, and the historical background of the era.
