About this event

The 39th Mitake-ryu Kagura Tournament will be held at "Kagura no Sato Noba Park" in Kiyokawa-machi, Bungo-ono City, Oita Prefecture. Mitake Kagura, which forms the centerpiece of the event, is said to have originated with the founding of Mitake Shrine in the first year of Hotoku (1449), and was designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property in the 19th year of Heisei (2007). On the day, six groups from across the prefecture, including Mitake Kagura, are scheduled to perform. Itachiya Rigaku, Ogata Sansha Kagura Preservation Society, Jojibaru Kagura Preservation Society, Takenonaka Kagura Preservation Society, Kiyokawa Children's Kagura Preservation Society, and Mitake Kagura will each showcase their traditions and skills. Food and beverage stalls are also planned at the venue, allowing visitors to spend a relaxing day from morning onwards. Please come and enjoy the kagura dances that have been handed down through the generations.
