About this event
The 'Yamanami Thanksgiving Festival 2026' is an experiential event to express gratitude to the rich nature of the Kuju Mountain Range and Handa Plateau, and to connect it to the future. Visitors can take small steps toward connecting grasslands and mountains to future generations through fun, participatory programs. This year's theme is the 'Kuju Deer and Human Coexistence Project'. In the 'Kuju Trail Care Experience Tour', where you can experience mountain trail maintenance to preserve Kuju's nature for the future, you can feel the importance of mountains and the blessings of nature firsthand through trail building with a guide. In addition, there are programs such as the '2nd Shikatanai Deer Droppings Purchasing Campaign' to learn about the environmental impact of deer and upcycle deer droppings as resources, and the game-like trail maintenance experience 'Challenge: Trail Care Mission'. Gourmet dining and shopping options are abundant, including the 'Mountain & Cheers Highland Beer Garden' where you can enjoy local gourmet cuisine while gazing at magnificent scenery, a tasting of the popular 'Deer Curry', distribution of 'Deer Bounty Vegetables' born from the natural cycle, a local gourmet stamp rally, and the Yamanami Marche. Furthermore, the 'Disaster Prevention Action Lab' will be held to learn useful knowledge and skills for disasters alongside the Japan Self-Defense Forces, packed with plans for the whole family to enjoy all day long.
