Featuring kabuki actor Hayato Nakamura as lecturer, "Introduction to Shintomi Kabuki - Special Kabuki Workshop by Hayato Nakamura" will be held in Shintomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture. This event is a participatory workshop where attendees can enjoyably learn the history and charm of kabuki and experience makeup, costumes, and theatrical movements up close. Participants will explore the world of kabuki through talks and demonstrations, concluding with a performance of the kabuki dance "Shakkyo" (The Stone Bridge) by Hayato Nakamura. Visitors can enjoy up close the gorgeous costumes and powerful lion dance. First-time kabuki watchers and children are warmly welcomed to this special 90-minute session offering the chance to "know, watch, and experience" the charms of kabuki. The program consists of an opening talk introducing kabuki's history and appeal (approx. 45 min), a kabuki makeup and dressing demonstration on stage featuring experiences of movements and "mie" poses (approx. 35 min), and a performance of the kabuki dance "Shakkyo" by Hayato Nakamura. This event aims to make top-tier kabuki feel more accessible.
