About this event
This is a 2-day, 1-night hands-on tour where you help local farmers in Shiiba Village with rice harvesting during the fruitful autumn. On Day 1, after sweating through the rice-harvesting work using sickles, you will have lunch with a bento box, and in the afternoon, you will build drying racks and hang the harvested rice to dry (haza-gake). Afterward, you will transfer to a ryokan inn and spend a relaxing evening in the mountain village while savoring local cuisine made with Shiiba's seasonal ingredients. On Day 2, you can take a leisurely stroll through the Tonegawa Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings and feel the charm of a beautiful settlement preserving Japan's pristine scenery. A special experience awaits you where you can touch upon food, culture, and Japan's original landscape. This tour is a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich nature of Shiiba Village and the warmth of the people living there.
