The "Eggane, Eegane! & Local Fish Discovery Event 2026" will be held at Uchinoura Fishing Port in Kimotsuki Town, Kagoshima Prefecture. This event combines Kimotsuki Town's regular autumn events, the "Autumn Eggane Festival" and the "Local Fish Discovery Festival." "Eggane" refers to Japanese spiny lobster in the local dialect of Uchinoura, Kimotsuki Town, and is said to be a corruption of "gane" (crustacean), which is considered auspicious. You can taste freshly harvested eggane (Japanese spiny lobster) right after the ban on fishing is lifted. In addition, a wide variety of local fish landed at Uchinoura Fishing Port, the leading fishing port in the prefecture, will be featured, making this an event to discover their appeal. During the event period, 6 restaurants in the town will offer special limited-time menus using eggane and local fish from this season. Furthermore, the special venue at Uchinoura Fishing Port features free servings of eggane miso soup, direct sales of eggane and freshly caught morning fish, various events for parents and children, cruising tours of Uchinoura Bay by boat, and a "Fish Touch Corner" hosted by the Osumi Fisheries Promotion Council.
