About this event
Designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, the 'Akina Arasetsu Event' is a traditional festival that invites the spirits of rice plants from the mountains and the sea, gives thanks for the five grains, and prays for a bountiful harvest. In the Akina district of Tatsugo Town, two rituals are held: 'Shochogama,' where a single-slope thatched roof is shaken down at dawn to pray for an abundant crop, and 'Hirase Mankai,' where prayers for a good harvest are offered on two rocks in Akina Bay known as 'Kamihirase' and 'Miyarabi-hirase.' Deeply connected to the region's rich nature, this is an important traditional cultural event passed down since ancient times.
