The 33rd Yoron Marathon 2026

About this event

The '33rd Yoron Marathon 2026', held on Yoron Island at the southernmost point of Kagoshima Prefecture, is a marathon event set on an island surrounded by the beautiful emerald sea. The course running around the approximately 23.7 km perimeter of the island is relatively flat yet full of undulations and curves, offering a challenging setup. Flowers bloom in profusion along the roads, and the warm smiles and cheers of local island volunteers support the runners. Generous time limits are set so that both beginners and experienced runners can enjoy it: 7 hours for the full marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon. A welcome party is held on the day before the event, and a finisher party after the event, making it an occasion to fully enjoy the island's charm beyond just the marathon. Participants are presented with an official event T-shirt, a finisher medal, and a commemorative mini bottle of Yu-sen shochu.
