Held in Tsurui Village, Hokkaido, the "2026 TSURUI Cycle Sports Festival" is a major event fusing bicycle competition and local community excitement. The main highlight is the mountain bike (MTB) cross-country race held on a special course taking advantage of Tsurui Village's rich nature, where top racers in Hokkaido engage in fierce competition. This festival started in 2022 when professional MTB rider and executive committee member Fumiya Kurose moved to Tsurui Village as a member of the Local Revitalization Cooperator squad, and has expanded in scale year by year. The 2026 edition is packed with all-day content including, besides the MTB race, a music festival, live performances by local artists and bands, live music by local wind orchestra "Tsurui Philharmonic", a food event gathering various kitchen cars, sales of local agricultural produce and crafts, pony carriage rides popular with children, tent sauna experiences, and workshops for nature walks and traditional food culture. From beginners to veterans, and solo participants to families, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Aiming to improve cycle tourism, revitalize the local economy, strengthen community bonds, and create a future led by youth, this festival strengthens ties with local businesses and maximizes local resources for sustainable development. It is an event where you can experience the excitement of sports and local warmth at the end of summer.
