Japanese name:第62回 石垣島まつり2026
📅 Sat, Nov 7, 2026 - Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
Originating from the Commerce and Industry Festival in 1953 (Showa 28), the Ishigaki Island Festival changed its name to Yaeyama Tourism Festival in 1964 (Showa 39) and then to Ishigaki Island Festival in 1987 (Showa 62), being handed down and developed by predecessors as the city's largest event. Its purpose is to 'raise citizens' hometown awareness, strengthen mutual cooperation among citizens, and bring together the city's vitality and creativity toward an abundant tomorrow.' In recent years, diverse programs such as stage events and stalls at Shinei Park, the Citizens' Grand Parade, and product exhibitions from friendship sister cities have been held, attracting many visitors from outside the island and becoming a classic November tradition. The Citizens' Grand Parade marches from in front of Arakawa Elementary School to the former Ishigaki City Hall, scheduled to take place between 11:00 and 15:00. As related events, exhibitors for exhibitions, tournaments, and hands-on corners are invited, and will be held within and around the Ishigaki Civic Hall grounds. Food and merchandise stalls will operate from 11:00 to 20:40 at the Shinei Park Plaza and on roads in front of Ishigaki Civic Hall. Stage performances featuring band music, singing, performing arts, and creative dance will be held on Saturday, November 7 from 13:00 to 16:30, and on Sunday, November 8 from 13:00 to 15:20. In addition, sponsorships from corporations, businesses, and organizations are being accepted for the festival.
