About this event

The 'NOWS Ishigakijima OWS Tournament 2026', held at Maesato Beach in Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture, is an Open Water Swimming (OWS) competition event. Scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, events of various distances are prepared, such as 5km, 2.5km, relay, 1.5km, and 500m. As qualification requirements, participants are required to understand that OWS is a dangerous and arduous sport, and possess the swimming ability to complete the distance of the entered category within the time limit. In addition, participants must engage in regular swimming practice, obtain a doctor's permission if they have pre-existing medical conditions, submit a parental consent form for minors, and junior high school students and younger must in principle be accompanied by a parent/guardian or supervisor. Since competition briefings and other announcements are conducted in Japanese, Japanese language comprehension is also required.
