About this event

A festival aimed at honoring and passing down "Nariyama Ayagu," a representative traditional folk song of Miyakojima, to future generations will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Imgya Marine Garden in Tomori, Gusukube. The greatest feature of this festival is its magical location set against the backdrop of the sea. In an illuminated venue resonating with sanshin and singing voices, "Nariyama Ayagu" is performed. Admission is free, making it a featured autumn event where Miyakojima's sea, music, and traditional culture come together. "Nariyama Ayagu" is widely known in Miyako as an instructional song in which a wife admonishes her husband, carrying the teachings of ancestors about marital relationships and how to live as a human being. It will be an evening where visitors can experience the depth of Miyako folk songs, inheriting not only beautiful melodies but also the values embedded in the lyrics. Being held in Tomori, its place of origin, adds special significance, allowing you to experience community-rooted culture.
