About this event

Hosted by the Haebaru Town Board of Education, the "30th Haebaru Uchinaguchi Contest" is an event aimed at raising interest in "Uchinaguchi" (Okinawan language) and passing it on to the next generation. An opportunity is provided to present everyday events, folktales, and more in Uchinaguchi, which participants are familiar with in daily life. So that even first-timers can participate with peace of mind, presentation manuscript support is also provided by volunteers from the Haebaru Town Cultural Association and other organizations. Elementary school students, junior high school students, high school students, and general adults who are residents of Haebaru Town are eligible to participate individually or in groups of up to 2 people. The presentation content is open, with a presentation time within 5 minutes. Application via the application form and submission of the presentation manuscript are required to participate.
