About this event
In Kitadaito Village, 'Bon Odori' is held twice a year. The first takes place on the 16th day of the 7th lunar month and is regarded as a traditional memorial event. The second is held on the last Saturday of August, hosted by the Youth Association, where Eisa dance is also performed. It used to be held during the Kyu-Bon (Old Bon), but the schedule was changed to the current dates in consideration of students studying on the main island returning home. This Bon Odori serves as a valuable opportunity for local residents to unite in passing down traditional culture and deepening their community bonds.
