About this event

The "Hokkaido Ceramic Artists Association Exhibition," hosted by the Hokkaido Ceramic Artists Association, is an exhibition that deeply explores the charm of ceramic art. In 2026, it will be held from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, October 25 at the Sapporo Art Park Crafts Studio. In addition to the main works section featuring masterpieces by each member and the small works section, the climbing kiln (noborigama) and hole kiln (anagama) works section is especially noteworthy. Firing in authentic kilns fueled by firewood conveys the profound depth of pottery and the craftsmen's passion. Local volcanic ash is also planned to be mixed into the glazes, promising works that take advantage of materials unique to Hokkaido. In addition, this year, the "Forest Climbing Kiln Project" is also being developed in collaboration with Sapporo Art Park, where kiln masters take the lead in expanding climbing kiln experiences while reaching out to local residents. Through the artworks, you will be able to glimpse the firing process in climbing kilns—which is a valuable experience in pursuing ceramics—as well as the excitement of craftsmanship, and the various challenges and discoveries that emerge. Furthermore, the association is preparing for international cultural exchanges with its sister city, Portland, raising high expectations for future activities. Why not take this opportunity to encounter the new possibilities of ceramic art and the rich culture of Hokkaido?
