About this event

Eniwa Gorge is a ravine located along the Rarumamai River, a tributary of the Izari River that merges with the Chitose River, and is famous for three distinctive waterfalls: Hakusen Falls, Rarumamai Falls, and Sandan Falls. During the autumn foliage season, these waterfalls and the gorge are adorned with vibrant, colorful leaves, delighting the eyes of visitors. With walking trails and waterfall viewing plazas well maintained, visitors from children to seniors can safely enjoy viewing the autumn leaves. The peak viewing period typically arrives from early to mid-October. Each waterfall has its own unique charm, such as Hakusen Falls, whose plunging stream resembles an open white folding fan; Rarumamai Falls, named from the Ainu word meaning ravine without water; and Sandan Falls, where streams tumble down in three tiers like white ribbons. The contrast between the vibrant autumn-tinted gorge and the waterfalls leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.
