At the "Blue Sparkle Aomori National Sports Festival (80th National Sports Games)" held in Aomori Prefecture from October 10 to October 20, 2026, the soccer competitions (Adult Women and Junior Women) will be held in Gonohe Town. The Adult Women's soccer will take place on Sunday, October 11, and the Junior Women's soccer will be held from Saturday, October 10 to Tuesday, October 13 at Hibarino Park Athletics Stadium. This tournament is the largest domestic sports festival, held in Aomori Prefecture for the first time in 49 years, providing an opportunity to spread inspiration and interaction through sports while promoting the charms of Gonohe Town. During the tournament, complimentary servings of the local specialty "Sakura Nabe" (horse meat hot pot), local confectionery, a free drink corner, as well as stalls and food trucks are planned, designed for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, a free shuttle bus connecting JR Hachinohe Station and the Gonohe Town competition venue will operate for convenient access. Through this tournament, it is hoped that town residents will engage with sports, promote health, find purpose in life, improve athletic competitiveness, and contribute to regional revitalization.
