Japanese name:令和8年度南部七唄七踊り全国大会
📅 Sun, Sep 27, 2026
About this event
The 2026 Nanbu Seven Songs and Seven Dances National Competition will be held in Nanbu Town, Aomori Prefecture. Nanbu Town is the birthplace of Nanbu Teodori, a traditional performing art handed down locally for over 100 years, and this tournament sees performers compete in this art. Participants compete in the "Nanbu Seven Dances"—consisting of seven dances: Nanbu Jinku, Nanbu Aiyabushi, Nanbu Yosarebushi, Nanbu Umakata Sangari, Nanbu Oiwake, Nanbu Nikatabushi, and Nanbu Dodoitsu—and the vocal techniques of the accompanying songs. Artists proud of their singing and dancing will showcase their open, resonant singing voices and dynamic, graceful hand dances, aiming to preserve and develop traditional performing arts. On the day of the tournament, starting with the opening ceremony, there will be the preliminary rounds of the Seven Dances, performances by Nanbu Town elementary and junior high school students, and following lunch and a break, the finals of the Seven Songs and the finals of the Seven Dances. Furthermore, a packed schedule is planned, including dance performances by the previous tournament champion and a song and dance festival by the Nanbu Town Local Performing Arts Preservation Society. Finally, the judging results will be announced, followed by the awards ceremony, bringing the tournament to a close. Admission is free.
