34th National Nanbu Tawaratsumi Uta Contest
Japanese name:第34回南部俵づみ唄全国大会
📅 Sun, Oct 25, 2026
About this event
Although "Nanbu Tawaratsumi Uta" is nationally famous as a celebratory song for piling up straw rice bales, its origins date back to folk songs given melodies during "kadotsuke" (door-to-door performances) recited in Sannohe Town. To spread this folk song, which has been arranged and passed down to this day, nationwide from its birthplace of Sannohe Town, raise interest in traditional folk music culture, and pass it on to the next generation, the 34th National Nanbu Tawaratsumi Uta Contest will be held. The contest consists of two parts: the "Children's Contest" (open to junior high school students and younger) and the "Main Contest" (open to high school students and older). Admission is free, but event programs are charged (600 yen). The participation fee is 2,000 yen for the Children's Contest and 3,000 yen for the Main Contest, with all contestants receiving a participation prize. Please note that refunds may not be available after application. The capacity is 20 participants for the Children's Contest and 60 for the Main Contest, and registration will close once capacity is reached. Applications are accepted via postal mail, fax, or QR code.
