About this event
'Disaster Prevention Experience Nayoro 2026,' held in Nayoro City, Hokkaido, will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the open plaza in front of Nayoro City Cultural Center 'Enray Hall.' Held concurrently with the '48th Nayoro Industry Festival,' it is an event where you can enjoy learning about disaster prevention together with family and friends. Various hands-on corners will be set up to see, touch, and experience disaster preparedness, including real and virtual experiences of heavy rain and flood inundation, fire extinguishing and smoke experiences, lifesaving drills using AEDs, and an evacuation shelter experience (tour of evacuation life). There will also be displays of disaster prevention-related vehicles from the police, fire department, and Self-Defense Forces, as well as disaster preparedness goods. Visitors who respond to a questionnaire will receive free emergency food supplies to serve as a reference for household stockpiles (limited quantities). As it is held outdoors, the program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather. Participation is free and no advance registration is required.
