"Aoi no Kirameki Aomori National Sports Festival Bicycle Road Race in Hashikami" is a bicycle road racing competition held in Hashikami Town, Aomori Prefecture. Road racing is often called the "flower of cycling sports," serving as a grueling event that tests an all-around combination of physical endurance, intellect, technique, and speed. Hashikami Town's course is characterized by downhills with many curves and steep uphill climbs known as "gekizaka," making it an extremely demanding course for competitors. It has a proven track record of hosting numerous national- and Tohoku-level competitions, starting with the 1993 All Japan Amateur Championships, and also hosted the 86th All Japan Road Cycling Championships in 2017. The prefectural high school freshman tournament is also held on this course every year. On the day of the event, races will be conducted across categories including Men's B (Youth), Women's, and Men's A (Adult), with the start and finish lines located near the Mount Hashikami trailhead. The race development will keep spectators glued to the action until the very end—whether a small breakaway group succeeds, gets caught in the closing stages, or culminates in a mass sprint finish. The venue will feature a free drink corner, food trucks, and a National Sports Festival PR booth, and a video display truck will allow spectators to follow the race even after the riders have passed. On the race day, roads along the course will be closed to traffic, so please cooperate with traffic regulations. Free shuttle buses will also be operated.
