The Oni Kojuro Festival is a major autumn event held every October at Shiroishi Castle. The biggest highlight is 'The Summer Siege of Osaka - Battle of Domyoji,' recreating the fierce battle between the second-generation Katakura Kojuro Shigenaga, renowned as 'Oni Kojuro,' and Sanada Yukimura. A total of about 120 performers—including armored samurai who applied via public invitation, a ninja squad, an archery unit, and a matchlock gun unit—deliver passionate performances. In this festival where Shiroishi Castle becomes a 'battlefield,' armored warriors vividly reenact 'The Summer Siege of Osaka - Battle of Domyoji' between Date clan senior vassal and Shiroishi Castle lord Katakura Kojuro and Japan's greatest warrior Sanada Yukimura. With traditional performing arts of local Shiroishi, a gourmet market from various regions, and city revitalization events, it is a festival where you can fully enjoy the history and charms of Shiroishi City.
