Natori City has been collecting materials and conducting research as part of its municipal history compilation project. This lecture series has been held since fiscal year 2023 (Reiwa 5), and this year's lecture will be given by Hiroo Sato, head of the "Natori Kumano Subcommittee" of the Municipal History Compilation Expert Committee. Mr. Sato will deliver an in-depth lecture on the history of Kumano faith in Natori and the efforts related to the municipal history compilation to date. The lecturer, Hiroo Sato, is from Miyagi Prefecture and has served as a professor at Tohoku University's Faculty of Arts and Letters and Graduate School of Arts and Letters. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at Tohoku University and serves as the head of the "Natori Kumano Subcommittee" of the Natori Municipal History Compilation Expert Committee. His major publications and papers include "The Philosophy of Sacred Sites (Reijo no Shiso)," "State and Buddhism in Medieval Japan (Nihon Chusei no Kokka to Bukkyo)," "Nichiren," and "The Cosmology of 'The Illustrated Map of Hone-dera Village in Mutsu Province': Death and Salvation in Medieval Japan (Mutsu no Kuni Henedera-mura Ezu no Kosumoroji)," promising a lecture based on profound academic knowledge.
