About this event
The 25th regular performance presented by Iwanuma Citizen Theater Troupe WEEP, 'Takekoma Mugen Zoshi ~ Takekoma Strange Tales ~', is a warmhearted, light fantasy period drama depicting the bond between a foal and a human girl, set against the backdrop of the horse fairs that once flourished around Takekoma Shrine. Hachiku, a foal raised by Sakura, the daughter of a poor horse dealer named Togo, adores Sakura and dreams of one day 'talking' with her. However, the language of animals cannot be understood by humans. Under these circumstances, Hachiku unexpectedly gains the ability to transform into human form, but around the same time, the town's richest man appears before Togo and demands that Sakura marry his son. The play is written by Ikuko Takeda and directed by Tomomi Takahashi. Highlights include the poignant bond between the young horse and the human girl, and the human drama unique to a period play set at a horse fair.
