Taiwa Industrial Festival (Irori Festival)

About this event

This event brings together agricultural products and local specialties such as newly harvested rice, seasonal vegetables, and maitake mushrooms gathered in Taiwa Town. Food, commerce, and industry booths will also be present, making the venue very lively. Through interactions between producers and consumers, this event offers an opportunity to broadly introduce the town's local products, agriculture, forestry, livestock, fisheries, commerce, and industry. Many popular activities are planned, including sales of fresh local vegetables and Sendai beef, an experience inoculating raw logs with shiitake mushroom spawn, and giveaways of young tree saplings. For stage events, a "New Gourmet Food Tasting Event" will be held on the outdoor stage. "New Gourmet Dishes" co-developed by Miyagi University students and restaurants in Taiwa Town will be presented and offered for tasting. These dishes were created using a variety of ingredients produced in Taiwa Town, including maitake and shiitake mushrooms, Gyoja-na (Allium victorialis hybrid), burdock root, and Muscat grapes. Leading up to the tasting event, students received advice from various eateries, repeatedly testing and improving their creations to ensure they were convenient and easy for visitors to pick up and enjoy. Through these new gourmet offerings, it is hoped that more people will discover the appeal of Taiwa Town and be inspired to visit.
