About this event
Held in Fujisato Town, Akita Prefecture, the '6th Shirakami Hasheru Rider 2026' is a kick bike race event aimed at fostering children's 'zest for life' in the rich nature of the Shirakami Mountains. It supports various strengths that children have, such as the ability to get back up after falling, motivation, spirit of challenge, communication skills, ability to follow rules, cheerfulness, physical strength, agility, desire to play outside, and a hearty appetite. It offers a special experience for the whole family to enjoy outdoor play while feeling the autumn breeze of the Shirakami Mountains. All participants will receive a participation prize set including a Murasaki Sports towel and sticker, an original sticker, Shirakami mountain spring water, soft-serve ice cream, and a day-trip onsen bath entry. You can bring your own kick bike, or rent one (12-inch + helmet) for 500 yen. Joining with a picnic feel or enjoying nearby hot springs is also recommended. In case of rain, the venue will change to Tsuchidoko Gymnasium, where you can enjoy tournament-style races and fast-paced timed races on an indoor straight sprint course. After the race, a skateboard trial session by Murasaki Sports will also be held. The tournament features categories: Hiyoko-chan Class (1.5 to 2 years old), 3-Year-Old Class, 4-Year-Old Class, 5-6-Year-Old Class, and 14x Class (4 to 6 years old). The entry fee is 3,000 yen across all classes, with a half-price discount for Fujisato Town residents. If held at Tsuchidoko Gymnasium due to rain, the fee is 2,000 yen. The capacity is 100 participants in total across all categories, and the application deadline is Monday, September 27, 2026, at 17:00. Each participant can race at least twice, and award ceremonies will be held for each division as needed. In addition to races on the grass course, practice and trial courses are set up (no practice or trial courses in rainy weather). Wearing a helmet, gloves, and sneakers is mandatory, and protective pads, long sleeves, and long pants are also recommended. Participants must consent to the organizer publishing and using video, photos, etc., of the event. Personal information will be used for participation notices and future event announcements. The skateboard trial session will be held in the Shirakami Mountains World Heritage Conservation Center parking lot after the event, and parent/guardian participation is required.
