The 'Kamaitachi no Sato Arts Festival' began with the opening of the 'Kamaitachi Museum of Art', which houses photos from the world-famous photo collection 'Kamaitachi' shot in 2016 by Eikoh Hosoe with Tatsumi Hijikata and villagers as subjects. Celebrating its 11th year and commemorating the 40th anniversary of Tatsumi Hijikata's passing, this year will feature diverse and fascinating programs including a taiko drum performance by Sado's Kodo led by Chieko Kojima, folk performing arts, Butoh dance, lectures, and more. Furthermore, a 'Hasakake Workshop' set in rice fields and outdoor performances will also be held, offering an exciting otherworldly experience in a quiet mountain village. On the day of the event, car transportation to and from JR Yuzawa Station will be provided, and nearby minshuku (guesthouses) and hot spring facilities will be guided for those wishing to stay overnight.
