Set in the historic geisha district of Hanakoji, pride of Yamagata City, the "Yamagata Hanakoji Autumn Festival" is an attractive event where visitors can casually experience Yamagata's traditional culture. A stage program enjoyable across generations will be presented, featuring graceful dance performances by Yamagata Maiko, as well as Hanagasa Odori dance, cheerleading, and juggling. In addition, there are plentiful hands-on programs such as an interaction experience with maiko, maiko-style mini makeover, kimono dress-up experience, and making bookmarks using kimono and obi fabric, allowing you to spend a memorable time engaging with geisha district culture. In the Former Chitosekan area, an introductory booth for renovation projects will also be set up, offering a glimpse into its future. Strolling through the atmospheric townscape, it will be a special autumn day to savor Yamagata's unique history, culture, and warm human interactions.
