The 'Donshan Sakata Halloween Festival' is an event born out of the 'Sakata Donshan Festival'—an autumn festival wishing for prosperous business originally centered around local shopping districts—which was reborn in 2018 (Heisei 30) as the citizen-participatory 'Sakata Big Prosperity Halloween Festival'. Filled with content enjoyable for both children and adults, it livens up autumn in Sakata. The event will be held in light rain, but canceled in case of severe weather. Held every year in mid-October, it is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2026. The event hours are from 10:00 to 17:00, held in Nakamachi, Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, and other areas. Access is good, approximately 5 minutes by car from JR Sakata Station and about 15 minutes by car from the Nihonkai-Tohoku Expressway Sakata IC. There is no parking available.
