About this event
In Obanazawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, the "28th Obanazawa Soba & Shin-soba Festival," an annual event heralding the bountiful autumn, will be held. The star of the festival is fresh soba made from "Genshu Mogami Wase" grown in Obanazawa, nurtured by a climate with sharp temperature differences. Handcrafted with care by artisans, the soba boasts an exceptional rich aroma and sweetness, and 1,000 limited servings will be offered on the day. In addition, crispy shrimp tempura and sobagaki (buckwheat dough) will be on sale (in limited quantities). Beyond gourmet delights, the venue is packed with activities to engage all five senses, including soba-making experiences, Hanagasa Odori dance, Obanazawa Soba Ondo dance, and jazz band performances. Value advance tickets (1,500 yen for 2 servings) are available, and same-day tickets are 800 yen (for 1 serving). Advance tickets can be applied for via a dedicated online application form or at participating stores within the city.
