Held at Yotsukura Suwa Shrine in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, the 'Watermelon Festival' is beloved as a summer tradition. Fresh and delicious watermelons produced in Iwaki City line the approach to the shrine, captivating visitors. In the shrine precincts, a summer festival unique to Suwa Shrine unfolds, featuring a mini festival fair, children's portable shrine (mikoshi) experiences, and more. In particular, the special live performance by the new-sensation folk song unit 'Neo Ballad' is an annual popular event. During the live performance, a lecture time for the traditional local 'Yotsukura Ondo' dance is also provided, allowing all participants to enjoy singing and dancing together to brighten their summer memories. Food sales and festival stalls are also abundant, making it a special day at the end of summer to enjoy with family and friends. Note that religious rituals and sales/events are held on separate dates.
