About this event

This marathon was established to honor the great achievements of athlete Kokichi Tsuburaya from Sukagawa City, who won a bronze medal in the marathon at the Showa 39 (1964) Tokyo Olympics, and to foster the next generation of runners. The course includes the training road that Tsuburaya himself once ran, and many runners from both inside and outside the prefecture dash through the autumn roads of Sukagawa. The Half Marathon, 10km, and 5km events are held on Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) certified courses. On the day of the event, shuttle buses operate from various parking lots and JR Sukagawa Station to the venue. As participation gifts, general participants receive a T-shirt, elementary through high school students receive a towel, and pairs receive one T-shirt and one towel each. In addition, services such as pre- and post-race conditioning, a lottery for finished runners to win rice, and complimentary Rakuo Cafe au Lait are provided. Baggage storage and coin lockers in the changing rooms are also available. This event is affiliated with RUN as ONE - Tokyo Marathon 2027 (General Category), offering a bonus chance for Half Marathon finishers to win entry rights to the Tokyo Marathon 2027 via lottery.
