About this event

Taking a new step forward in 2026, the 1st Soma Fireworks Festival is a reborn independent event succeeding the fireworks festival that originated from the 'Hama Matsuri,' held for the first time in 8 years following the Great East Japan Earthquake. The venue is Matsukawaura New Fishing Port in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Views, where vivid lights will color the night sky. The launch will be handled by Itoi Kako, a Fukushima pyrotechnics company with over 150 years of history. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, they have continued to launch fireworks imbued with wishes for reconstruction along the coastal Hamadori region. A key highlight is the dynamic, rhythmic production featuring a wide variety of fireworks integrated with music, using contrasting dynamics. Combining vivid, high-chroma fireworks with animated effects, visitors can enjoy an immersive fireworks experience. The number of tickets sold directly determines the number of fireworks launched, making it an appealing event that grows together with the audience, where each visitor's participation elevates the scale of the fireworks display.
