Tamura Specialty Floating Lanterns and Fireworks Festival

Held along the banks of the Otakine River in Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture, the "Tamura Specialty Floating Lanterns and Fireworks Festival" is an event where visitors can enjoy fireworks coloring the summer night sky and mystical floating lanterns. Held annually in late August, approximately 1,000 fireworks are launched. Powerful fireworks can be anticipated, including large 10-go shells (shakudama). Fireworks can also be viewed from the floating lantern venue, and the harmony between the lantern light reflecting on the water surface and the fireworks in the night sky creates a fantastical scene fitting for summer memories. Food and merchandise stalls will also be set up around the venue to liven up the festival mood. The event will proceed in rain, but may be postponed in the event of severe weather.
