About this event
This is an art exhibition of works by Kyōgo Noda, an oil painter born and living in Otaru (formerly Shioya Village). While serving as an art teacher in the city, he has also been active as a member of the Doten Exhibition and the Otaru Fine Arts Association, vigorously presenting works throughout Hokkaido. Born in Otaru, spending his university days in Hakodate, and working in Shimamaki, Rankoshi, and Otaru, Mr. Noda has lived his life always alongside the sea. In his early days, he painted seascapes evoking the ocean, but his work gradually transformed into "mindscapes" featuring cliffs and stone walls as motifs. Created by walking through town, composing motifs discovered in everyday life, and confronting the canvas with earnest integrity, his works possess both abstract purity and approachable warmth. In this exhibition, you can view Mr. Noda's artistic world in one place, from his early pieces to recent creations. Related events such as artist talks, children's workshops, and gallery talks by curators will also be held during the exhibition period.
