In the North Canal area of Otaru City, Hokkaido, the "North Canal Night Market Yummy-Ichi 2026" will be held for eight days from Saturday, September 19, 2026, to Saturday, September 26, 2026. Set against the North Canal where historic warehouse rows and original Otaru Canal scenery remain, this night market invites visitors to enjoy night-time Otaru through light, food, and music. Around 30 unique stalls will be open, including gourmet stalls where you can savor tastes of Otaru and Hokkaido, allowing you to enjoy strolling and food-sampling along the canal. During the event period, the North Canal will be magically illuminated with lights such as illuminations, paper lanterns, and hanging lanterns, creating a beautiful night view blending historic scenery with soft lighting. In addition, an 8-day program across the entire area features contents such as "North Canal Music Live" set against the warehouse backdrop, "Canal Floating Lanterns" releasing lights onto the canal's water surface, and the "Japan Heritage City Walk Game" exploring Otaru's history and culture. Aiming to enhance the appeal of Otaru's nighttime tourism and extend visitor stay times, this event is a future-oriented initiative expressing that "Otaru is exciting at night." Operating hours are from 17:00 to 21:00 with free admission. A pre-opening is also scheduled for Friday, September 18.
