Beginning in 1873 (Meiji 6) and boasting over 150 years of history, the traditional Namie Town festival "Namie Town Tokaichi Festival 2026" will take place over two days on Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22, 2026, along Shinmachi Street in Namie Town. Originally started as a market to celebrate harvests and stock up on daily necessities for winter, many stalls once lined Shinmachi Street, drawing large crowds from the Soso and Iwaki regions. During the festival, central Shinmachi Street becomes a pedestrian zone, bringing the whole town together with mikoshi portable shrine parades, stage events, and various festivities.
