The Ayu Sweetfish Village Festival, a summer tradition of the Yamagata area, will be held. At the festival, visitors can enjoy an ayu sweetfish catching contest and a barbecue event. In particular, the fireworks display that marks the finale of the festival is a magnificent sight, launched by Nomura Fireworks Industry Co., Ltd., a multiple award winner at national fireworks competitions. The colorful and gorgeous fireworks echo across the mountains of Okukuji, offering an intensity that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Starmines and large-caliber shells will light up the night sky, letting you experience powerful fireworks. The venue also features a festival square, interactive events, sales of local specialty products, and a salt-grilled ayu corner, providing enjoyment throughout the day. Since parking is limited, the use of public transportation is recommended.
