Roadside Station Okukuji Daigo WEST Grand Opening

As a new hub for Daigo Town, Roadside Station Okukuji Daigo WEST (Michi-no-Eki Okukuji Daigo WEST) will hold its grand opening on Saturday, October 10, 2026. This new area was developed as 'NATURE BASE DAIGO', a base for sightseeing and outdoor activities in Daigo Town, and as a 'hybrid roadside station of disaster prevention and bustling activity' that will also function as a wide-area disaster prevention base during disasters. Based on the Daigo Machinaka Vision established following the East Japan Typhoon disaster, the prefecture and town collaborated on development at the former town hall site. The new area features a Montbell store with outdoor gear, the restaurant 'Ebisu-an' using plenty of local ingredients, rental bicycles, a free-flowing footbath from Daigo Onsen, and the FM Daigo broadcasting station. In addition, during disasters, an underground earthquake-resistant water reservoir and emergency power generation equipment will operate, fulfilling its role as a wide-area disaster base. An all-weather event plaza, skateboard park, and playground are also provided, aiming to balance the creation of local vitality and the strengthening of disaster prevention functions.
