The Otawara Marathon 2026, held on Monday, November 23, 2026 (national holiday), is a marathon event hosted in Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture. Utilizing a Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) certified course, the event features a full marathon division and a 10 km division. Target finish times are within 4 hours 00 minutes for the full marathon and within 1 hour 00 minute for the 10 km race. Eligibility is open to amateur athletes born on or before April 1, 2011, as well as unregistered general runners who can complete the course within each time limit. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each category, and runners who break event records in the marathon division will receive development funding. All participants will receive an original event participation gift. A preferential entry system is also available, offering perks such as waived entry fees to runners with certain qualifying records. There is no on-the-day check-in; participants should wear their athlete bibs and timing chips sent in advance and line up at the start area. Special drink drop-off is also accepted for the marathon division. Multiple checkpoints are set along the course, and runners must pass through each before its closing time. Traffic restrictions will also be in place. Team entries are also possible, with registration handled by team representatives. The event will take place rain or shine.
