About this event

Fukiware Falls is a powerful waterfall in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, with a drop of 7 meters and a width of up to 30 meters, also known as the 'Niagara of the Orient.' In autumn, Fukiware Gorge, created by the erosion of clear streams, is adorned with brocade colors, and the contrast between the gorge's beauty and the autumn leaves is breathtaking. From the walking paths and waterfall observation decks developed around the area, visitors can enjoy unique gorge scenery such as the dramatic sight of the falls, strange rock formations called Hannya Rock, and the historic Ukishima Kannon Hall. The best time to view autumn leaves is typically from late October to early November. Around noon on clear sunny days, rainbows rarely appear, and the natural contrast woven by the rainbow, autumn foliage, blue sky, and clear stream is magnificent. It offers seasonal highlights throughout the year, from fresh green in spring to autumn foliage in fall.
