On Sunday, August 30, 2026, "(Tentative Name) Asahikawa Station Square Classic Car Festival 2026" will be held at Asahikawa Station Square. This is a pre-event looking ahead to full-scale hosting in fiscal 2027, under the slogan "Compact, Low Cost, High Impact." The purpose of the event is to utilize the transportation hub of the JR Asahikawa Station Square and Aeon Mall Asahikawa Station area, engaging Aeon's customer traffic and JR's commuter flow through an event centered on classic cars loved across generations. By encouraging citizens and tourists to "watch, photograph, and talk," the event aims to rediscover Asahikawa's potential and create regional vitality. Approximately 40 to 60 Showa-era registered vehicles are scheduled to be displayed, and viewing/participating is free. On the day, in addition to vehicle displays, kitchen cars (food trucks) are scheduled to operate, with an opening ceremony at 10:00 and a closing ceremony at 15:30. This event aims to color the streets of Asahikawa with the excitement of those days, welcoming classic car fans, young people interested in Showa culture, and enthusiastic people who want to revitalize Asahikawa. The executive committee is recruiting volunteer staff for planning, operation, vehicle guidance, social media public relations, and venue setup, with particular plans to strengthen the social media strategy team to build a fanbase before the event by sharing behind-the-scenes preparation.
