Heart-Touching Musical Moments: Harmonies of Piano and Cello

About this event

Held as Lobby Concert Vol. 35 at Kuki Comprehensive Cultural Center, "Heart-Touching Musical Moments: Harmonies of Piano and Cello" is a concert offering heartwarming performances by the piano and cello duo "Otomayu." "Oto" represents music itself, while "MA" represents the performers' names (Masami and Asuka) as well as the Hawaiian meaning of "motherly and embracing." "Yu" stands for the healing ("yu" from "iyashi") in "healing the heart through sound," providing a warm and comforting time that connects deeply with the audience through music. The performers are cellist Asuka Matsutani and Kuki City resident pianist Masami Shimada. Matsutani began cello through the Suzuki Method, graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, and was active as a cellist with the Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo. She currently runs a cello school in Koga City, conveying the charm of the cello through both performance and instruction. Shimada graduated from the piano department of Musashino Academia Musicae, studied chamber music in France and Japan, collaborated with various artists, and released CDs. She runs a local piano school, devoting herself to educating future generations. Admission to this concert is free, offering an easy and casual opportunity to enjoy music.
